Helen + Peter | Engagement Session

It's always an honor to be asked to photograph dear friends, and this was no exception. When Helen asked me to shoot her and Peter's engagement photos I was tickled pink! Helen has been a close friend since freshman year in college, and as a fellow photographer, we've worked on some projects together in the past. We decided on a day and despite the call for rain in the weather, headed into downtown Columbia on a bit of a blustery Sunday to do the session.

Starting off with cupcakes was, of course, the perfect fun activity, and resulted in more icing on faces rather than eaten. Helen and Peter play off so well together, and I greatly enjoyed their laughter as they seemed to forget I was even there, melting into the background as they smeared their cupcakes at one another.

Because both of them are such hippies at heart, we headed to a nearby records shop and the two headed straight for the Beatles section, which was no surprise since these old souls had chosen to wear their favorite band t-shirts they had gotten just for the photo session. It was like watching two kids in a candy store, and it reminded me once again of how absolutely perfect these two are for each other. Their love of music is something that binds them together, and it was cool for me to be a part of that. All in all, it was a great day, and I look forward to capturing their life moments in years to come.
